Chelsea Knight: The Breath We Took
05.03.2013 – 06.01.2013
Aspect Ratio is pleased to present, The Breath We Took, an exhibition of new work by Chelsea Knight.
With The Breath We Took, Chelsea Knight continues her exploration of combining documentary, biography and fiction to examine contemporary society. Knight focuses her lens on the ways motherhood becomes a constructed performance that follows societal norms and practices. The video is a collaboration between Knight, her family and numerous brides. The participants address issues of marriage, femininity, child-bearing and child-rearing. Knight weaves candid interviews, monologues and fictional accounts into a story about love, vulnerability and being a woman.

Knight has had residencies at the Whitney Independent Study Program and at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
